Gum Disease Care & Prevention
Unfortunately, periodontal (gum) disease can lead to more than just an unsightly smile—it can cause loss of teeth and eventually, if left untreated, serious health problems. Called gingivitis in its early stages, periodontal disease is caused by excessive toxic bacteria (found in plaque) that attack your gums and supporting bones. Early warning signs of the disease include red, swollen, bleeding gums. Often times a periodontal surgical specialist is needed to help treat advanced cases of periodontal disease.

Endodontics / Root Canals
Each of our teeth contains a long, thin strand of dental pulp—which provides the tooth with nutrients and nerves—that extends down to the tooth’s root. If the pulp becomes infected or injured, the tooth’s nerves die. Root canals are designed to save such damaged teeth. During the procedure (performed under anesthesia), a gap is drilled into the tooth’s crown and pulp chamber, diseased pulp is reshaped or removed, and the tooth is permanently sealed with a gold, porcelain, or tooth-colored crown. Sealants
Children’s teeth—especially back teeth—are susceptible to decay and cavities despite regular brushing and flossing. To protect your children’s teeth, consider sealants. Durable, clear is bonded to the teeth, adding strength and creating reinforcement. Sealants can significantly reduce decay! To learn more about sealants, please contact us today.

Fluoride Treatment
Experts concluded long ago that the mineral fluoride is quite effective in protecting teeth enamel from decay. For that reason, it is added to tap water and other products. But children—whose teeth are vulnerable—need extra fluoride to keep their enamel extra strong. Fluoride treatments are an excellent solution. Fluoride treatments, administered in trays or brushed onto the teeth, are quick and painless and are given immediately following professional cleanings. Surgical Procedures
Dr. Grayson Murray evaluates the surgical aspect of each patient on a case-by-case basis. Many procedures can be performed in our office including, but not limited to simple implant placement, simple and surgical extractions and crown. In some cases a surgical specialist may need to become involved in the case.

White Fillings
A composite resin is a tooth-colored restorative material that restores the natural appearance of a decayed or previously filled tooth. A composite usually requires only one visit during which the tooth is prepared and restored. An advantage of composite fillings compared to other dental restorations is that less of the healthy part of a tooth must be removed to hold a composite filling in place. This is due to the ability to adhesively bond composite materials to teeth.

Composites are preferable for obvious cosmetic reasons, but if the decayed area is large or is subject to heavy chewing pressure, another type of white filling called a porcelain inlay or onlay may be recommended.  Inlays and onlays are used to restore teeth that are badly damaged by decay or wear. they may be applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth When aesthetics are of concern.  Inlays and onlays generally require two visits because a dental laboratory is involved in fabricating the porcelain restoration.

Crowns
Crown and bridgework is a very reliable solution for major dental problems caused through tooth loss, dental decay, tooth trauma or wear and tear. Crowns are employed to restore function to a single tooth. Bridges replace one or more missing teeth using existing teeth as anchors for the restoration. Major problems can usually be corrected using these techniques. Material used in these repairs is either high-grade porcelain, or porcelain bonded to white gold. A higher strength of the porcelain and gold materials is recommended to treat the most serious of dental problems. Where accidental damage has occurred, resulting in lost teeth, or where teeth have broken away through excessive wear, or as the result of old fillings breaking, crowns and/or bridges can be used as a long-term solution.

Many people have unexplained pain from filled back teeth, which is usually due to hairline cracks in the chewing part of the tooth. Placing crowns on these teeth relieves the pain and allows a return of full dental function for these teeth. In front teeth, older fillings can both weaken the teeth and cause "appearance" problems due to staining or chipping. Porcelain crowns and bridges are suitable in cases where porcelain veneers are not. In teeth with root canal fillings, crowns can prevent breakage.
